When people hear the word “rich,” they usually think of money.
Money matters. But it’s only one form of wealth.
This year at Anarchapulco, I’ll be speaking to the kids about what it really means to be rich. I break it down into four areas.
1. Pocketbook
Financial literacy is important. Learning how to earn, save, and manage money gives you options. Options create stability. But a full bank account alone doesn’t make a person wealthy.
2. Body
Health is foundational. Without it, everything becomes harder. Taking care of your body through good habits, movement, and rest is part of real wealth.
3. Mind
Education doesn’t stop when school ends. Reading, learning, asking questions, staying curious — these build mental independence. A strong mind allows you to think clearly and make thoughtful decisions.
4. Spiritual Health
Character matters. Integrity matters. A person can have money and still feel empty. True wealth includes alignment between what you believe and how you live.
When I speak to the kids, I’ll emphasize one simple action they can take right now to begin building wealth in all four categories:
Strengthen your family ties.
Tell the people you love that you love them. Say it often. Don’t assume they know.
Understand that your parents, even when they’re imperfect, generally want what’s best for you. They may not always express it perfectly, but their long-term interest is your well-being.
And tell the truth.
The consequences of telling the truth are always better than the consequences of a lie. Lies multiply problems. Truth simplifies them. If you want to build real wealth in your pocketbook, your body, your mind, and your spirit, start with honesty and strong relationships.
