Last week I had the privilege of sitting in on the first ever podcast recording for Project 180, a Florida based nonprofit that helps formerly incarcerated people rebuild their lives through job training, sober housing, education, and real community support.
The episode focused on the life of a former inmate who shared the raw and unfiltered reality of his life. He talked about the small victories, the challenges that linger long after release, and the pressure of trying to rebuild your identity one choice at a time. The conversation was absolutely riveting.

As someone who has walked some of that road myself, what resonated most was how much the little things matter. A steady paycheck, a safe place to sleep, and a circle of people who tell you the truth instead of telling you what you want to hear. Project 180 builds its programs around those realities and the data supports it. Educational and vocational programs significantly reduce the chances of returning to prison.
When we finished recording, I walked out with a renewed sense of purpose. Reentry is hard but it is not hopeless. Conversations like the one I listened to help clear the path for others.
I’m looking forward to doing more with Project 180, and when the episode is released, I’ll let you know.
